As we’ve learned this week, the flood of Noah’s day created the perfect conditions for the ice age. This event built up massive glaciers, which slowly receded as the ice age came to an end. These glaciers, some of which still exist today around the poles, left their mark upon the rocks and as they retreated. And they were part of something else that completely changed the landscape.
Glacial ice sheets filled valleys as far south as Idaho. In fact, a massive, 2,000-foot-deep lake formed in Montana. Eventually, this lake breached its ice dam. An immense flood carved out canyons within days.
Yes, the events of the flood largely shaped the earth’s surface we have today.
