Accidents Before the Fall?

Some people mock the biblical teaching that there was no death before sin. Now they say things like “so Adam never stepped on an ant before the Fall? So there had to be death before sin!”

Well, Scripture teaches that originally the creation was “very good.” Later, death was the consequence for sin. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they brought sin into creation. But what about accidental death before the Fall?

Well, God upholds the universe. And the God who kept the Israelites’ shoes from wearing out for forty years—and protected three Israelites from the fiery furnace—can certainly keep accidents from happening in a perfect world! Yes, we can absolutely trust God’s Word.
