All of This Death Has Got Me Thinking

I’ve been thinking back over the year 2025, and I remembered there were a number of prominent people who died. Charlie Kirk was assassinated. Jane Goodall and Ozzy Osbourne died. Wonderful Christian teachers like Dr. John MacArthur and Dr. Voddie Baucham also died last year.

Those who put their trust in Christ—we’re going to see them again.

Some of those people were Christians, and so we know they’re with God. Now, Jane Goodall, as far as I know, had no interest in Christian things. And Ozzy Osbourne certainly gave no indication that he had trusted Christ for salvation. And if that’s true, they’re eternally separated from God, sadly. But those who put their trust in Christ—we’re going to see them again. They’re in heaven with the Lord, rejoicing in their eternal home.

And that got me thinking that over the years, many, many Christians I’ve known have passed away, gone to be with the Lord. Men like Dr. Henry Morris, the founder of the Institute for Creation Research in California, one of the coauthors of the famous book The Genesis Flood, and someone I worked with for seven years; Dr. Duane Gish, the world’s foremost debater on creation-evolution issues and also someone I worked with; and Dr. John Morris, the son of Dr. Henry Morris. And that is only a fraction of the Christians who have influenced me with their passion for Christ.

I also fondly remember several of our AiG family, including speakers and good friends Dr. Tommy Mitchell and Buddy Davis (who sculptured the dinosaurs at the Creation Museum) as well as Dr. Dave Menton (who inspired the design of the Fearfully & Wonderfully Made exhibit at the Creation Museum). And there’s Patrick Marsh, whom God brought to Answers in Genesis to design the exhibits and set up a design studio for our attractions.

I thought, “Wait a minute. Who’s going to replace them?”

And then I thought of that verse of Scripture:

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

And I have a challenge for you. You know the Bible tells us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Are you available? Are you available to maybe take the place of some of the greats that God has raised up in the past? Are you prepared? Pray to the Lord and say, “Here am I. Send me. I mean it. Not 90% or 95% or 99% commitment, but I 100% mean it. Here am I. Send me.”

And if you do that and really mean it, you never know how God’s going to take you up on it and what he is going to do and what path he will lead you on. The most important message in the entire universe is the message of the gospel.

And we need to do all we can to get that message out to as many people as we can. As Christians, we can face the future with hope because, despite tragedies, God has been and will be faithful to accomplish his purposes.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
