Evolutionary Tree of Life vs. Creation Orchard

One of the key concepts in the biblical creation worldview is the idea of created kinds. When it comes to explaining the “origin of the species,” there are two competing models—the evolutionary tree of life and the creation orchard (separate trees with branches).

The evolutionary tree of life portrays that all of life has a universal common ancestor, way back in the distant past, and all of life has branched off the common trunk. This means that humans, animals, and plants are all related. The creation orchard view starts with the eyewitness account of history in Genesis that tells us 10 times that God created life “according to its kind.” Like trees in an orchard, each one is separate from the others. There can be great variation within each kind.

In the creation orchard model, one kind produces more of its kind, and one kind won’t change into another kind. We do observe diversity within a kind, but the limit to that diversity is the barrier of kind. Kind is generally at the level of “family” in our modern classification system, so there can be different genera and species—variety—within a kind, based on already existing genetic diversity, but one kind stays its kind. And this matches what we observe!

We do observe diversity within a kind, but the limit to that diversity is the barrier of kind.

It’s important that kids understand this key concept so they don’t get confused when evolutionists point to change within a kind and use these minor variations as evidence for change of one kind into another. And we’ve just released a brand-new resource to help you do that.

Trevor and Avery (Foley) Schu produced a fun children’s creation adventure program called Schus Off! that’s been very popular on Answers TV, our streaming platform. Well, Avery has now written an illustrated children’s book (illustrated by Justine Foster, on our talented design team), Schus Off! Search for the Cat Kind. This rhyming children’s storybook takes children around the world on a hunt for eight members of the cat kind, teaching kids what makes a kind a kind and why one kind won’t turn into another kind.

You’ll love this fun adventure and all the incredible animals featured throughout the book. I encourage you to order a copy to help your kids have a proper understanding of biblical kinds and to just enjoy a fun story. (Search for the Cat Kind makes a great Christmas gift!)

Visit AnswersBookstore.com to find this new resource, along with other brand-new books such as The Long War Against Children, Truths for Toddlers Book Set, Compelled—the Ray Comfort story, A New Way to Win, Home Fires, and Watch What You Watch.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
