According to God’s Word, children are a blessing and a gift from God to their parents. This means they are not a commodity to be acquired by any means necessary by anyone. That should be an obvious truth, but in our day and age it’s not. What do I mean by this?
Well, modern reproductive technologies allow children’s genetics to be selected from a catalog, with the sperm and egg “donors” (really sellers) being chosen for their IQ, appearance, or accomplishments. IVF allows babies to be sorted according to their genetics, with those whose genetics don’t “measure up” being thrown away (literally thrown away as medical waste—killing [murdering] a human being made in God’s image). Homosexual parents, who could never have children on their own, can purchase eggs and sperm and even rent a woman’s womb to create a child who is purposefully deprived either of a mother or a father. It’s tragic, and it’s the commodification of children.
AiG’s Avery Foley recently interviewed Katy Faust, founder of Them Before Us, about this issue. I encourage you to watch it—it’s a powerful interview.
Yes, we need to be defending unborn life whether that life is being attacked by abortion or by reproductive technology.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
