Tomorrow is the National Day of Prayer here in the United States, and the theme this year is “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled,” based on Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” This year marks the 74th anniversary of this day of prayer for our nation.
What should you pray for on this day? Well, generally, it’s a day to pray for our nation, our government, our leaders, and the spiritual condition of this nation. Now this year we have reported several “good news” items on our weekly news program, Answers News, including a rise in interest in reading God’s Word and learning more about Jesus, especially among young men. We’ve seen stats that Generation Z is hungrier for spiritual things than millennials.
Pray that the God of hope would continue to draw people in this nation to himself and that, even as we’re seeing a resurgence in conservative thought and in “spirituality” among many voters, it would be so much more than that—a change of heart that lasts for eternity as people come to know Christ Jesus as Savior.
I encourage you to pray that the God of hope would continue to draw people in this nation to himself and that, even as we’re seeing a resurgence in conservative thought and in “spirituality” among many voters, it would be so much more than that—a change of heart that lasts for eternity as people come to know Christ Jesus as Savior.
Pray also for our leaders, including the president, SCOTUS, Congress, and others, that they would make wise decisions and lead this country in a godly way.
The artwork for this year’s theme focuses on the triumphant second coming of Christ, when he will return as King. Spend time tomorrow thanking him for his promise to someday return and praising him as the perfect ruler our hearts long for.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
