Yes! One of the most stunning stage productions you will ever see is coming to the Ark Encounter’s Answers Center on select days, January 3–18, 2025.
This is a wonderful opportunity for all ages to experience the most popular Christian allegory ever written. Here on stage, The Pilgrim’s Progress will come alive in a way you have never experienced before.
The Logos Theatre group who does this stage presentation made sure it was true to the text. (This is the same group that performed The Horse and His Boy at the Ark Encounter in January and November this year.) Based in Taylors, South Carolina, Logos Theatre is part of The Academy of Arts—an organization that stands on Scripture beginning with Genesis and promotes a true biblical worldview in the arts. Don’t miss this opportunity!
Over 300 years after its publication, Pilgrim’s Progress remains one of the most popular books in the world.
Imagine writing a book, a Christian allegory, that would become second to the Bible in sales. Over 300 years after its publication, Pilgrim’s Progress remains one of the most popular books in the world. It’s estimated that there are over 250 million copies in print (compared to the Bible’s billions of copies). Pilgrim’s Progress has become known around the world and has influenced and impacted millions of people with its message of the gospel.
The author, John Bunyan, wrote the book while he was in prison for his faith. It was published in two parts in 1678 and 1684. In Bunyan’s hometown of Bedford, England (where his church was located), there is a statue honoring him.
When I visited England a number of years ago, I was able to visit John Bunyan’s grave at Bunhill Fields outside London, where the nonconformists were buried (Isaac Watts, the famous hymn writer, is buried there, along with theologian John Gill, Susanna Wesley, and many others).
It was wonderful to see the message of Bunyan’s book, and therefore the message of the gospel, displayed clearly on his tomb. On one side, there was a sculpture of Christian with the burden on his back, and on the other side, there was a sculpture of Christian standing before the cross as the burden fell from his back. There it is—the message of the gospel.
My parents gave me a copy of Pilgrim’s Progress when I was a young child. I remember when I started to read it, I couldn’t put it down.
I can’t recommend enough that every family ensures they get tickets to see this world-class production by a Christian theater group that honors the author’s text and honors the Lord in all they do.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
