Anti “Conversion Therapy” Order Signed by KY Governor

Recently, the governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, signed an executive order regarding what he calls “conversion therapy.” Regardless of what is claimed, this order could be used (and no doubt will be used) against Christians, Christian organizations, and churches that stand on God’s Word (and science, I might add!) in regard to gender.

  • Executive order
  • House Majority Caucus response
  • News headline: Beshear’s executibe order banning conversion therapy on minors called ‘egregious overreach’

So, what is “conversion therapy”? Beshear defined it this way:

“Conversion therapy” means any practice, treatment, or intervention that seeks or purports to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity, including efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same gender.

Government officials are not supposed to force their religion on the people—and yet that’s what is happening.

Our state governor’s promotion of the religion of sexual humanism as the established religion of Kentucky needs to be challenged. Government officials are not supposed to force their religion on the people—and yet that’s what is happening. Free exercise of our Christian religion allows us to teach the truth of the Bible and thus convert people to the Christian faith. And that means helping people build their worldview on God’s Word, which clearly states there are only two genders.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27)

As the God-man, Jesus the Son of God affirmed this truth from Genesis when he said,

Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female? (Matthew 19:4)

In signing this order, the governor is really saying Christians no longer have the right to free exercise—which violates the Constitution.

Kentucky House Majority Caucus lawmakers issued a statement saying,

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has once again overstepped his authority, this time attacking the God-given rights of Kentucky parents by circumventing their will through executive action. His latest decision to impose a statewide ban on so-called “conversion therapy” is an attempt to bring California-style liberal ideals to Kentucky, threatening the values of free speech and parental rights that are cherished by families across the Commonwealth.

These actions represent a blatant disregard for the deeply held convictions of Kentucky parents, infringing on their right to make decisions that best support their children’s God-given identity and well-being. By imposing this executive ban, he is infringing on these fundamental rights and attempting to implement policies that mirror those of the radical left.

This is not just a ban; it is an attack on the very principles that Kentucky parents hold dear. Governor Beshear continues to push his liberal agenda, ignoring the will of Kentucky families and imposing his views on our state.

We will not stand by while this governor tramples on the rights of Kentucky parents. We stand united with families and will defend their constitutional right to direct the upbringing of their children.

Sadly, the religion of sexual humanism—which is anti-God, anti-Christian, and anti-biblical—is being imposed on people across the nation. What’s the solution? Well, we obey God rather than man, continue to share the gospel message, and pray that God changes hearts and lives for his glory.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
