Today is National Christmas Lights Day here in the US—and we definitely have a wonderful way for you to celebrate! Come enjoy the hundreds of thousands of lights at both the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, happening select days now through December 30. And best of all, unlike many local light shows, admission to both ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum and ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter is free (you just pay for parking). You really don’t want to miss it!
Enjoy these photos highlighting just part of what you’ll experience as you tour the garden of lights at the Creation Museum or the sea of the lights at the Ark Encounter (both are different experiences).
Now, lights are just part of our Christmas events. Another feature of our spectacular ChristmasTown at the Creation Museum this year is a number of dramas that point guests toward Christ’s birth and what that means for us today. These programs are currently taking place during ChristmasTown, but I thought you’d enjoy some sneak behind-the-scenes photos that were taken during rehearsals.
Of course, ChristmasTime at the Ark Encounter also features beautiful light displays along with Christmas concerts with our resident artists, TrueSong. (They just released a Christmas album featuring several originals I think your family will really enjoy. You can stream their music wherever you listen or by going to this link.) These Christmas concerts also feature a fun production on the massive LED screen, performed by students from our Answers Academy (AiG’s Christian school). Throughout the Christmas season, there will also be special dramas from Answers Academy and God’s Bible School and College with their orchestra (select nights, see calendar for details).
There’s so much to do at ChristmasTown and ChristmasTime! Be sure to plan your Christmas visit by checking dates, times, and the daily schedules.
Oh, and if you’re looking to do some Christmas shopping, you can find unique gifts during these events. The ministry of Answers in Genesis, through the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum, is one of the biggest sellers of Christian fair trade items. We love doing this, as it helps disadvantaged people around the world. Fair trade is a buying relationship that creates opportunity for economically disadvantaged artisans. We work with many individuals and fair trade cooperatives to provide our guests with beautiful products and to provide our artisan friends with work and a reliable income. This gives them the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and the freedom to choose a different life. And best of all, many of our fair trade partners share our gospel-centered mission and are actively sharing Christ with others.
What a great way to obtain Christmas presents to bless your friends and family and also help those who made the items—that’s a gift to them. When you visit the Ark and Creation Museum, make sure you check out our fair trade items! They are unique and change regularly.
Wow! Yes, there’s a lot to do at ChristmasTown and ChristmasTime—so come and celebrate National Christmas Lights Day tonight or any of the other nights of our wonderful family Christmas events.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
