Science Can’t Explain Everything

Can science explain everything and answer all our questions? Well no, it can’t—and most scientists would agree with that. Science is limited in the search for truth and knowledge. And there’s actually a large number of questions science simply can’t answer. So where can we find those answers? Well, I think you know—in God’s Word. But it’s more than that.

The Bible doesn’t merely answer what science cannot—the Bible provides the very foundation and framework for science.

You see, the Bible doesn’t merely answer what science cannot—the Bible provides the very foundation and framework for science. It’s only because there is an eternal, consistent, orderly God who created the earth and universe that we can study creation, trusting that the laws of nature (which are immaterial) will apply the same in the future as they did yesterday and do today. If the universe is the result of random, chance process, we can’t know this! It’s only because the Bible is true and the Creator God exists that we have a foundation for science.

And the Bible provides an eyewitness account of history, from the very beginning, that we can use as a framework for properly interpreting the past. It’s only when we understand that God created everything in six days just a few thousand years ago, that God’s creation was originally “very good” and then was broken because of sin, that there was a global flood, and that mankind was divided at the time of the tower of Babel that we can properly interpret the evidence around us when it comes to the past.

Yes, we need the Bible to be able to do good science, especially when it comes to the past! A forensic scientist (who is part of our AiG staff now), Dr. Jennifer Rivera, recently presented at the Creation Museum on this very topic, and that presentation was filmed and put up on YouTube. I thought you’d enjoy learning more on this topic from Dr. Rivera:

2024 STEM Challenge

Oh, and if, like us, you’re someone who loves the Bible and loves science, I encourage you to check out our 2024 STEM Challenge (and yes, there are monetary prizes, with first place taking home $5,000!). For the first time ever, we’re having a design competition for teams of 2–4 teens (14–18 years old) and one adult leader to design and build a wind turbine.

That turbine will then be judged by a panel of experts on November 6, 2024, in the Answers Center at the Ark Encounter. Teams will also enjoy learning from experts in the field related to the challenge—in this case, from Dr. Cal Beisner of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. It’s sure to be an exciting event.

So get your team together and register today!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
