I could not be more excited to make an announcement than this one! After being forced to remain closed for over two months now and after having to temporarily lay off 80% of our staff, I’m excited to announce that the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum are re-opening! By the time we open, we’ll have been closed almost three months.
We’re thrilled to be opening our doors to families and individuals of all ages beginning Monday, June 8, 2020.
We’re thrilled to be opening our doors to families and individuals of all ages beginning Monday, June 8, 2020. As Kentucky slowly re-opens and retail stores, restaurants, theaters, and other businesses are allowed to open, we also will be welcoming guests from across the country to our two attractions. Families and individuals will finally be able once again to explore these two attractions and discover more about the truth of God’s Word and the gospel of Jesus Christ and to see our brand-new exhibits, including a new “Lucy” display and the completely renovated and upgraded Stargazer Planetarium at the Creation Museum.
Of course, we must now operate under the “new normal,” and the state and federal guidelines will change—so guests will notice several things that will be different around the attractions for the time being. For example, we have extra handwashing and sanitizing stations set up throughout the attractions; we’ve put up signs reminding people to wash their hands and maintain appropriate social distancing; and we've placed markers on the floor to help guide people and keep them at an appropriate distance from one another.
Our staff members will be wearing masks when we re-open, per state guidelines—but you can still see the smiles they’re known for in their eyes as they are very excited to come back and serve you and your family. We will also be offering a special afternoon ticket (that includes a voucher for a free meal at either attraction) to encourage people to plan to arrive later in the day, thus helping spread out the guests throughout the facilities.
Our housekeeping team already excels in what they do (our guest surveys nearly always receive an “excellent” for cleanliness), but they are doubling down on their commitment to providing our guests with a great experience by extra cleaning and sanitizing of high-traffic and high-touch areas. You can come and visit, knowing we are doing our utmost to ensure both attractions are as clean and sanitary as possible.
You can download our complete reopening plan here.
Even though some things have changed at our attractions, the purpose and message of them have not: to proclaim the truth of God’s Word and the gospel!
Even though some things have changed at our attractions, the purpose and message of them have not: to proclaim the truth of God’s Word and the gospel! What also hasn’t changed is our “Kids Free 2020” offer. We had stepped out in faith earlier this year to offer all children 10 and under free admission to both attractions, and we’re committed to continuing to do that through the rest of this year.
Yes! Kids 10 and under may attend for free in 2020.
I can’t express how excited we are to reopen and how thankful we are to the Lord that we can once again share the truth of God’s Word and the gospel with others through these incredible facilities he has given us. This announcement allows us to begin recalling temporarily laid-off employees who have greatly suffered during this time (it will take some time before we can recall all the staff needed, though we look forward to that day!), which will also increase tax revenue for Kentucky (which has had record unemployment).
Plan your visit to the world’s two leading Christian themed attractions today at ArkEncounter.com and CreationMuseum.org. (It feels great to be able to write that again!) And join with us in praying for those who will come: that they will be challenged and encouraged by the truth of God’s Word and the gospel.
And remember, the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum were voted the top two religious museums in America by a national USA Today poll earlier this year.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
