Exciting Creation Museum Upgrade Now Underway

I’ve noticed a disturbing trend in the church, especially among seminary professors (who are training future pastors and theologians). This is the idea that Scripture isn’t clear without the aid of scholars—that we need professional help to even begin to understand the basic teachings of God’s Word. But God’s Word is clear! Yes, there are hard parts, but overall the message of God’s Word is clear to all, in every culture, throughout all time. That’s why our Answers in Genesis ministry theme for 2018 is “Taking back the Bible’s clarity . . . from the very first verse.”

One of our theme verses for 2018 is

For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle? (1 Corinthians 14:8, KJV)

God’s Word is clear and needs to be proclaimed to all! We need to stop sounding the uncertain call that the basic messages of God’s Word are too difficult for the average person to understand so we better leave it to the experts. Instead we need to open God’s Word and allow it to change our thinking. There’s a spiritual battle raging around us, and many are not equipped because they’ve been told that God’s Word isn’t clear! So that’s why in 2018 we’re going to emphasize that God’s Word is clear for all to understand its basic message and is certainly clear in its history in Genesis.

(You can learn more about why we chose that theme in an upcoming article).

“Operation Upgrade” Coming to the Creation Museum

Launching off our 2018 theme, I’m excited to announce that we’re taking a big step in dealing with this issue of the clarity of Scripture with a Creation Museum upgrade over the next 18 months. The Creation Museum is 10 years old, and we want to make some major changes, not only to upgrade some technology, but also to install brand-new exhibits that will open people’s eyes to the clarity of Scripture. We want to sound a certain call to get people ready for the spiritual battle we’re in!

Operation Upgrade includes three phases:

  1. Our fabricators have already begun making changes to the museum. Attendance has doubled—even tripled—some days since the opening of the Ark Encounter, and over the summer we noticed two things that need to be immediately dealt with: we need a restroom at the beginning of the 7 C’s walk through biblical history, and we need to remove “choke points” that get crowded and can halt guest flow. Increased attendance is a wonderful problem to have! These upgrades will cost $250,000 and will quickly help alleviate congestion and improve the guest experience.

  2. We’re totally upgrading the Special Effects Theater. It will become a cutting-edge 3D theater that will utilize the best technology available. We will show a 3D film on Genesis, continue to show our Men in White program but give it a fresh new look on a digital screen, and our staff are producing a spectacular new program that will proclaim the clarity of God’s Word, beginning in Genesis. This exciting 3D redesign, as well as the production of the new program, will cost $1.5 million and, if we can begin construction in January, will be operational when the big crowds begin to arrive again this spring.

  3. For the first one-third of the museum’s walk-through exhibit area (for those familiar with the museum, this includes the Starting Points room to the Wonders room), we are building and installing new exhibits that explain why Genesis and biblical authority really matter. Striking exhibits, based on my book The Lie, will give this area a whole new look and will emphasize the battle between man’s word and God’s Word and will help guests understand the true foundation of the authority of God’s Word and how it impacts the gospel message.

Our designers and fabricators will start design and construction of the exhibits in early 2018 and install them in 2019. Our goal is to open the new exhibits by Memorial Day 2019. The cost of these exciting new exhibit upgrades will be $1.15 million.

We’re very excited about these new improvements. They will not only be an enormous upgrade for the museum and greatly help with traffic flow, but they will also help present the clear teaching of God’s Word to the church and the world even more powerfully than it is now.

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple. (Psalms 119:130)

End-of-the-Year $1 Million Matching Gift

To kick off this exciting Operation Upgrade, I’m thrilled to share with you that several generous supporters have collectively made a $1 million year-end matching gift commitment to fund these Creation Museum upgrades! This means that any gift made before December 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $1 million. Praise God!

I urge you to prayerfully consider a generous gift before the end of the year so we can take full advantage of this amazing gift-matching opportunity. If we can, we will have raised $2 million of the $2.9 million needed for these upgrades.

Thank you for your continued support and, above all, for your prayers as we reach the culture and the church with the message of biblical authority and the gospel.

You can make your year-end gift at AnswersinGenesis.org/donate.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
