God, Death and Suffering, and Hurricanes

Questions swirl in the wake of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma pounding America: why does God allow catastrophes like this? Also, did man-made climate change increase the intensity of the storms and the flooding? Why do we see incredible examples of compassion and self-sacrifice alongside looting and price gouging?

Dr. Terry Mortenson, an Answers in Genesis researcher, writer, and speaker, recently appeared as a guest on the nationally syndicated Christian radio program The Christian Worldview, hosted by David Wheaton. In light of the recent flooding and catastrophic damage, he answered the question of why God allows suffering and death, gave possible comparisons of Hurricane Harvey to the global Flood of Noah’s day, and why we see such kindness and abuse in the wake of tragedy.

Appearing on the program before Terry was Dr. Cal Beisner, founder of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. He looked at popular claims that man-made climate change increased the size and ferocity of Harvey.

You can listen to the full episode of The Christian Worldview via their podcast on The Christian Worldview website. I encourage you to listen to the program and share with your friends and family. The host, David Wheaton, should be a familiar name to tennis fans: he was a highly ranked tennis player about 25 years ago and is now in full-time ministry.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
