Give It Twice

The greatest investment any Christian can make is in the furtherance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. After we have long gone home to be with our Savior, our legacy can still have a lasting impact on future generations. Have you thought about what kind of a legacy you want to leave with the resources God has entrusted to you?

Planned Giving

Well, one way that you can both honor the Lord by looking out for family and give into God’s kingdom is through planned giving. We’ve been highlighting this option on our website over the past few weeks to give you some ideas as you plan for the future. Here’s one example story I was given by AiG’s director of planned giving, John Pence, to illustrate one way that you can plan to bless your family and build into God’s kingdom:

June and her husband were careful to handle their money in a way that honored the Lord so that there would be an estate to leave behind for their kids. When June’s husband went to be with the Lord, she started thinking about what she could do with her estate so that she could both bless her kids and contribute to the Lord’s work. That’s when she learned about “Give it Twice” trusts. This allowed her to first give income to her children through a trust and then transfer the trust balance to a Christian non-profit in the future.

With her $800,000 estate, June has the ability to do something significant for both her four kids and God’s kingdom. With a "Give It Twice" plan June could transfer $400,000 from her IRA at death to the trust. Her children would each receive one-fourth of the income from the trust over 20 years. After that time, the trust balance would benefit her charity. Also, by using her IRA, June could save on income tax because the special trust is tax-exempt.

By using a Give It Twice trust, June was able to both help her family and contribute to Answers in Genesis’ mission to spread the gospel and the message of biblical authority. If you would like to help AiG with our mission, you can learn more about planned giving at GenesisGift.org, or you can make a secure online donation. We so appreciate your gifts and prayers that enable us to do what we do for the glory of God and His kingdom.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
