“New Christmas Town” Celebration—Creation Museum Celebrates Christmas with New Attractions, Popular Live Nativity, and Spectacular LightsThe popular Christmas festivities at the Creation Museum—now called “New Christmas Town”—are returning this year, and once again a live Nativity and tens of thousands of lights should draw large crowds over eight evenings in December. Furthermore, with new attractions and enhancements this year, museum officials expect to break the previous record of 24,945 visitors, weather permitting.
New Christmas Town, which will remain largely free, has become an annual tradition for families in the Tri-State and beyond. Last December, an on-site survey indicated that the average family travelled 132 miles one way to Petersburg, Kentucky (west of the Cincinnati Airport), to be a part of this annual event. To handle the expected crowds this year, changes have been made to greatly help with parking, and a new walking route has been created through the brilliantly lit grounds to keep the lines moving, even on the busiest evenings.
New this year will be the opportunity to ride a zip line over the museum’s scenic three-acre lake, and soar over the most spectacular Christmas light show in the Tri-State. (There is a charge for the zip line.)
With a live Nativity on the museum’s highly decorated grounds, New Christmas Town presents the true meaning of Christmas. In addition, New Christmas Town provides families a glimpse into the amazing events surrounding the wonder of Christ’s birth. The Creation Museum is located in Petersburg, Kentucky, at exit 11 off I-275, only two exits west of the Cincinnati Airport.
This year, New Christmas Town will be held every Friday/Saturday evening in December: December 6–7, 13–14, 20–21, 27–28. On Saturday evening, December 7, our third annual Deaf Day at New Christmas Town will be held.
The museum’s large gardens are being transformed into a “Garden of Lights” featuring a breathtaking display of tens of thousands of Christmas lights. Previous visitors have indicated that it’s the most dazzling show of Christmas lights in the entire region. Inside the museum, an array of Christmas items will be on sale in the bookstore.
The museum’s acclaimed planetarium will present its special ticketed program, The Christmas Star, about the mysterious star in the east that heralded the birth of Jesus and guided the wise men to Him. In addition, new this year is the planetarium’s program about comets, Fires in the Sky. It describes the Comet ISON, which will be visible to the naked eye next month as it travels near earth.
Noah’s Café will serve a tasty turkey dinner, with festive food and drinks also on sale.
Ken Ham, president of the Creation Museum and Answers in Genesis, said: “This is the time of year to reflect on the greatest gift ever given to us: the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, who was the Babe in the manger. New Christmas Town at the Creation Museum is our way to say ‘thank you’ to our community for its support and to offer families a free gift at Christmas—complimentary admission to New Christmas Town.”
New Christmas Town is open 5–8 PM ET, December 6–7, 13–14, 20–21, 27–28. All the outdoor events (except for the camel rides and zip line) are free and open to the public. Inside, museum admission on Christmas Town days is only $5 after 5 PM (last entry is at 8 PM). A free DVD and booklet about Christmas will be given to each family, and children will receive a complimentary Christmas coloring book.
More information about the special Christmas events, plus details on purchasing tickets for the zip line, planetarium programs, and the Creation Museum can be found at creationmuseum.org/christmas or by calling (888) 582-4253.
