A Flood of Memories

Last week, we had one of the great theologians of our time, Dr. John Whitcomb, speak to us at our staff chapel. Dr. Whitcomb, who was also a speaker at AiG’s “Answers for Pastors” conference last week, is the co-author with the late Dr. Henry Morris of the classic book The Genesis Flood. We videotaped his chapel talk, and portions of his talk will pop up in a few places next year—the 50th anniversary of the publication of The Genesis Flood. That ground-breaking book reignited the creation movement worldwide. Dr. Whitcomb also shared his memories of how God providentially connected him to Dr. Morris.

As we make preparations to honor the book’s 50th anniversary, you can read an interview with Dr. Whitcomb as he reflects on the book—and how God has blessed it—at the website of The Baptist Bulletin magazine (an outreach of the GARBC denomination).

At the pastors’ conference, Dr. Whitcomb told the pastors that even though The Genesis Flood book is almost fifty years old, the biblical arguments have not changed! However, there is now a wealth of new and updated geological information that makes what the book stood for (i.e., the authority of God’s Word beginning in Genesis) even stronger. Dr. Whitcomb said he was thrilled to be able to recommend the two-volume book set, Earth’s Catastrophic Past, by AiG’s Director of Research, Dr. Andrew Snelling. Andrew has a PhD in geology from the University of Sydney in Australia, and he is considered to be one of the leading creation geologists in the world today. You can expect to hear a lot more about the 50th anniversary of The Genesis Flood, the book that really started the modern creationist movement, over the next few months.

In New York State

Today and tomorrow, I am in the Finger Lakes area of New York State for a pastors’ conference (primarily Calvary Chapel pastors). The session this evening is open to the general public, and we do expect quite a number of visitors.

(Psalm 106:13-14) They soon forgot his works; they waited not for his counsel: But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

We face dilemma trials where we do not know what to do; the purpose of these God-allowed trials is to see if we will wait for the counsel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
