700,000 Museum Visitors

by Ken Ham on May 3, 2009

As Dave and Colleen Bishop and their granddaughter Katelyn from Grand Rapids, Michigan, came through the Creation Museum entrance doors yesterday, they were greeted by our Director of Museum Operations, Dan Mangus, and congratulated for being the 700,000th visitors since opening 23 months ago. Mally and I were waiting for these special guests and had our photos taken with them at our Photo FX booth.

On Memorial Day weekend (commemorated by Americans at the end of this month), the Creation Museum will celebrate its 2nd anniversary. Despite the economy and high gas prices, the numbers of visitors have been very strong—with indications (from future group bookings, tour groups, school groups, etc.) that numbers could even get much stronger in the third year.

We give all praise and honor to our Lord! As one lady said to us in a voice mail message left recently, “God built this place.”

KILLING A CHILD NO LONGER MURDER?

In an article from LifeNews.com entitled, “Texas State House Could Vote Soon on Bill to Lower Penalties for Infanticide” (April 29, 2009), Steven Ertelt, LifeNews.com Editor stated:

When the Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision that allowed virtually unlimited abortions, pro-life advocates said it would lead to a slippery slope. In Texas, legislators could slide down that slope when they vote on a bill that would lower the penalty for some mothers who engage in infanticide. HB 3318 would reduce the crime of infanticide from capital murder to a state jail felony and the measure could receive a vote soon in the Texas House of Representatives…Current law states that if a child under the age of six is murdered, the crime is considered capital murder. HB 3318 would reduce the crime of murder against a child the age of birth-12 months to only a state jail felony with a minimum punishment of 180 days to a maximum of 2 years, if the murder committed by the child’s mother is attributed to "impaired (judgment) as a result of the effects of giving birth or the effects of lactation following the birth."…The measure is sponsored by Rep. Jessica Farrar, a Houston Democrat, who won a Planned Parenthood Public Affairs award last year "for her work on reproductive health issues."

You may recall the blog item I included recently Princeton University Professor Peter Singer (an ardent evolutionist and animal rights activist), where an article from Christianity stated:

[Peter] Singer is a mild-mannered fellow who speaks calmly and lucidly. Yet you wouldn’t have to read his work too long to find his extreme positions. He cheerfully advocates infanticide and euthanasia and, in almost the same breath, favors animal rights. Even most liberals would have qualms about third-trimester abortions; Singer does not hesitate to advocate what may be termed fourth-trimester abortions, i.e., the killing of infants after they are born.

Who would have ever thought generations ago that such things would be being considered in America! This nation is in big trouble spiritually.
