The theme of this year’s Answers for Women conference is Defend: Ready to Give an Answer. God calls each of His beloved children to share the hope He has given us through Jesus (1 Peter 3:15). Yet how can we share that hope when so many are questioning the very foundation of our faith and false stories abound about Christianity? How would you answer a friend asking if Jesus truly resurrected? How do you share the hope of heaven among all the stories of visits to heaven? Is the Bible even God’s true Word? Should we be involved in things like holy yoga and contemplative prayer? We want to equip you with answers.
Joining Corey Abney, Grace Mally, Amy Spreeman, Bodie Hodge, Erin Benziger, and Marcia Montenegro at this year’s conference is Tim Chaffey. Tim is the content manager for the Attractions Division of Answers in Genesis. He is also a gifted speaker and writer, authoring several books including Noah: Man of Destiny, Old-Earth Creationism on Trial, a series for young people called The Truth Chronicles, and In Defense of Easter.
In our secular culture that wants to deny all miracles and in our Christian community that downplays the importance of the Resurrection, Tim will show us that to be faithful to Scripture we must defend the truth of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Here is what he had to say about his presentation for Defend.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Peter 1:3)Every born again Christian believes that Jesus Christ defeated the grave by rising from the dead, but how much do we really know about this spectacular miracle? Do we understand how it is being attacked today and how we can counter these assaults? Do we realize how frequently it is omitted from modern presentations of the gospel even though it is an essential part of the gospel message we are called to proclaim (1 Corinthians 15:1–4) and was the focus of every apostolic sermon in the book of Acts?
In this presentation, I’ll explain how this spectacular miracle is central to the Christian faith. Next, we’ll examine the abundant evidence from Scripture, history, and archaeology that confirms the fact that Jesus conquered death. In the second half of the talk, I’ll critique more than a dozen alternative views raised by critics and skeptics seeking to explain away the evidence, and show how their efforts fall woefully short.
The Christian faith stands or falls on the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. If Jesus did not conquer death, then the Christian faith is empty and futile, we would be false witnesses, and we would still be in our sins. In other words, there is no salvation without the Resurrection.
Thankfully, Jesus did rise from the dead, just as He said He would. He said that His Resurrection on the third day would be the one sign He would give to a wicked and adulterous generation (Matthew 12:38–39), and then He made good on His promise when He rose and showed Himself alive “by many infallible proofs” (Acts 1:3).
Believers in Jesus Christ can be assured of the living hope we have in the risen Savior.
I have no doubt that Tim’s presentation will revive in our hearts and minds the importance of the Resurrection to the gospel message and equip us to effectively defend it.
Register today, and remember the price includes lunch on Saturday, free admission to the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter for the attendee, and 20% off admission for accompanying spouse and children. This year’s conference will be held at Florence Baptist Church (20 minutes from the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter) because we’ve outgrown Legacy Hall at the Creation Museum—what a wonderful problem! Be sure to download the bulletin insert on the event website to advertise the conference at your church.
Keep fighting the good fight of the faith!
Answers in Genesis is an apologetics ministry, dedicated to helping Christians defend their faith and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ.
