We are still a few weeks away from the 2017 theme reveal, but this news couldn’t wait! In collaboration with Fundación Veritas, we will have a Spanish version of VBS beginning in the 2017 VBS season.
Conmocion Oceánica will be our first Spanish-language VBS program (available in early 2017), with more to come. Each year a new VBS will be translated and released. This means that the Spanish language version will be just one VBS season behind the English language version of the same title. (For instance, the summer 2016 English VBS Ocean Commotion will be translated to become the 2017 Spanish VBS Conmocion Oceánica.)
We sat down with Joe Owen, the Spanish Ministry Manager, to learn more about this program coming next year.
A: There is virtually no apologetics material in Spanish for children and no resources to build a biblical worldview for even understanding the gospel. The new alliance between Answers in Genesis (USA) and Fundación Veritas (El Salvador) will provide both Latin America and the USA with more biblical resources and will increase understanding for children and teachers.
A: They are a foundation in El Salvador from a church that is trying to help Latin America develop biblical literacy.
A: Yes, but the Spanish curriculum offered each year will be a translation of the previous year’s English VBS to give us time for translation and formatting. AiG did all the work, so it’s a big job.
A: Digital formats will be available in early 2017.
A: Anyone interested in helping with translation can apply here.
Be sure to learn more about Spanish resources, Fundación Veritas, and Joe Owen on our website.
More information will be available soon on the Answers VBS and Respuestas en Génesis blogs.
