“I must confess that, prior to encountering your organization, I was quite unaware that there were Christians who did not believe in a literal 6 day creation.”
Dear Mr. Ham,
I've wanted to extend a "thank you" for some time now. A year or so ago, when you conducted a seminar in Phoenix, AZ, you were gracious enough to "pop in" at Calvary Chapel in Prescott. I can't tell you how exciting that was to me - I had so longed to attend the Phoenix seminar, but could not due to my work. To find you at church on that Sunday morning was such a blessing - I stayed for 2 services.
At the risk of sounding like someone who has lived under a rock, I must confess that, prior to encountering your organization, I was quite unaware that there were Christians who did not believe in a literal 6 day creation. But even more than that one aspect, it was a shock to have revealed to me through your teachings the subtle but blatent errors in other perceptions and opinions I held about God's created world. As I listened to your presentation that day, and later as I read through the pile of books I purchased, I felt shaken to the core. It grieved me that I had been so blind to the false beliefs I had acquired over the years, in opposition to such fundamental Biblical truths.
Much that you shared that day affected me deeply, but one thing you said has stayed with me on a daily basis: you made a comment to the effect that the geology of Arizona is one of the most powerful testimonies to the catastrophe of the Flood. Prior to that, I had viewed the hills and mountains as something beautiful, "the way God made it". I now see them with sorrow, while still admiring their innate beauty, as I think of the verse in Genesis where God says he was grieved that he had made man. That should break every Christian's heart.
(It also jolted me to hear you say that you consider yourself a missionary to the United States. I think that offends many Americans - we tend to think we're the pinnacle in the civilized world. You keep on telling us that - we need to have our arrogant attitudes shaken up!).
I can't afford to support very many ministries, but I consider yours one of the most essential in this age of apostasy. Please accept what I can send with my most heartfelt thanks. I pray for you and your ministry.
Watching and Waiting for His Glorious Appearing,
Your Sister in Christ,
