What kinds of books should you be reading to your children?
We’re all aware of the kind of depraved or anti-biblical content—LGBTQ, CRT, woke, evolution, and more—stuffed into modern children’s books. Some of these books have captured headlines as, for example, parents have read them out loud at school board meetings . . . only to be told to stop reading because the books are too graphic! So they are okay for kids but too graphic (perverse) for adults?
Often they think “Christian” means “safe,” but false teaching can be even more dangerous than outright error.
But many parents are less aware of the progressive content sneaking into books marketed as Christian children’s literature. Often they think “Christian” means “safe,” but false teaching can be even more dangerous than outright error. It’s harder for children to distinguish between right and almost right than between right and wrong.
As parents and grandparents, we must be vigilant about what books we put into the hands of our children, ensuring the ones we choose are honoring to the Lord, are faithful to his Word, and teach what will build up their faith. We need to be active in checking all this!
In a recent Answers News episode, hosts Bryan Osborne and Avery Foley highlighted one example of a dangerous “Christian” book—a children’s Bible!—and spoke to The Good Book Mom about how parents can be discerning when it comes to literature choices. I encourage you to watch this eye-opening episode and share it with others.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
