Boys College?

I am happy to announce that I have successfully completed my first semester of college! During the days and weeks away from family and familiarity, the Lord was so good to me, making my transition into a college kid very smooth and even enjoyable. I praise the Lord for his goodness, and thank all of you who have been thinking and praying for my family and me during this exciting and different stage of life.

Many people have been inquiring where I am going to college—the answer is Boyce College, the undergraduate school of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary located in Louisville, Kentucky.

I have had many amusing conversations with people over the last few weeks, because, for some reason (maybe I slur), the name Boyce College somehow gets communicated as Boys College. The first thing people ask me is, “So, are there any girls there?” It was perplexing until I realized what was going on and had to give a quick explanation, assuring people that there were indeed girls.

What attracted me to Boyce College was the tight-knit community, love for God’s Word, and high standard for academic excellence. Also, it was a school that didn’t take long to feel welcomed. It can definitely be intimidating coming in straight as a freshman, but the student body and faculty at Boyce have a testimony for blessing new students and making them feel at home. I have made many amazing relationships already.

Another aspect of Boyce College that was the hook, line, and sinker for me was their commitment to the gospel. For students who are contemplating going into full-time ministry as a career—whether pastoral, business, or mission related . . . really, for anyone who desires a solid foundation in God’s Word—I highly recommend Boyce. Boyce College has a passion to raise up young men (yes, and women) who love the Lord, are serious about his Word, and are excited about taking the gospel near and far through a variety of contexts.

Currently, I am majoring in worldview and apologetics, and I praise the Lord for a great first semester! I have flown back to southeast Asia for the summer to spend time with my family and do some monkeying around in the jungle, but I look forward to furthering my education through Boyce College over the next few years.
