We live in the sunny state of Florida, which is known for its white sandy beaches and beautiful warm weather. Our family loves Florida, and we are water people, so we enjoy living here on the coast.
Where we live in Asia Pacific is basically on the equator, so we are used to warm weather. Temperatures over 100 degrees aren’t unusual there, so we love the heat factor here in Florida. Warm summers and not-too-cold winters are perfect for us.
When we are in Florida, we are about a 15-minute drive from the beach, so we go there quite often. The beaches here are actually a lot different from the ones we are used to back home. Here, the sand is pure white and as fine as salt. Back in Asia Pacific, the sand consists mostly of bits of broken pieces of coral, so it’s chunkier and much darker.
Over there we are used to seeing schools of fish swimming among beautiful corals and sea grasses. It’s always fun to go snorkeling or spearfishing while we’re at the beach. Because the Florida beaches don’t have much coral, the scenery under the water is very different.
There’s also great fishing here in Florida in the Gulf of Mexico, and we go deep-sea fishing when we get a chance. Our grandpa takes us out, and it’s always a blast. There are more fishing regulations here though than there are in Asia Pacific where size limits are nonexistent. There, anything you catch, whether it be 5 inches or 25 inches, you can keep.
Overall, Florida is a great place to live. It is different from Asia Pacific, and the contrast between the two places makes me even more amazed at God and His creation.
