Darwin and Death

Charles Darwin’s daughter, Annie, was just ten years old when she died. Her tragic death may be what caused Darwin to totally turn away from God.

You see, many theologians in Darwin’s day had embraced the new idea of an earth that’s millions of years old. Because of that, they taught that God made “natural evil” part of his creation from the beginning. They rejected a young earth an original “very good” creation and death resulting from sin.

But it’s only with the Bible’s account of the fall that we can reconcile death and suffering with a good God. Without the foundation of the Bible’s history, people like Darwin misunderstand God’s character and walk away.
