Critical race theory, or CRT, is being presented as the answer to racism, and many Christians are saying it’s a tool we can use to end racism.
CRT says today’s problems are because of whiteness, white privilege, and white supremacy. So, in this view, the new original sin is . . . well . . . racism. But only some people—really, those with light skin—are the “sinners.”
CRT has a very wrong view of sin, so it also has the wrong view of salvation! It’s something of a “works-based” religion: you must continually do the work of anti-racism to be “saved.”
That’s not the gospel! The gospel says everyone is a sinner, and we’re saved by repenting and trusting Christ.
