“Layers” of Development

For the next two weeks, we’re looking at the development of an unborn baby. Today we’re at 24 days of life—when many mothers might not even know they’re pregnant! And yet the baby is quickly growing and developing.

The baby has three “layers” at this point. The outer layer will become the baby’s nervous system and skin—the middle layer will become the circulatory system, muscle, and bone. The innermost layer develops into the other internal organs.

Now, these various systems are already well on their way to developing, with a tiny heart already beating and a brain forming.

Wow! As the psalmist says, we are fearfully and wonderfully knit together!
