Are earth’s rocks millions of years old? Well, radiometric dating is often given as proof. But there’s a lot of assumptions behind this!

Here’s how radiometric decay works. One element decays into a new element. Scientists can measure the rate at which this takes place. And they believe this determines the ages of the rocks.

It seems simple . . . but the whole process of radiometric dating is based on unprovable assumptions.

We must assume we know the original number of the original element, that there’s been no contamination, and that the decay rate hasn’t ever changed.

So, no, radiometric dating doesn’t prove long ages—the earth is young, as the Bible teaches!
