When many people talk about the gospel, they describe some kind of “self-help” message. But that’s not the biblical gospel!
The true gospel is grounded in God’s Word. The first man God made, Adam, was given a choice to obey God. He chose rebellion, and the punishment is death. Because we sinned in Adam and continue to sin, we all will die.
But Jesus Christ stepped into history and died in our place, taking our penalty for us. He then rose from the grave, conquering death. If we turn from our sins and believe in him, we will be saved. We can’t save ourselves, only Jesus can save us, and that’s the good news!
