Many people believe marriage is a government … or social … institution. But it’s not! Marriage is God’s institution! He created it from the very beginning.
You see, Genesis chapter one tells us that God created us male and female. And Genesis two gives us the origin of marriage, when those “two become one flesh.”
Well, some people argue that’s not really what God said. They say marriage is about commitment and monogamy—male and female don’t matter. But that’s arbitrary! And if we can pick and choose which parts of marriage we like, why does it have to be just two people?
No, we don’t have the authority to redefine marriage. God defined it.
