What’s a “Biblical” Kind?

Genesis chapter one uses the phrase “according to their kind” ten times. Now, it describes the organisms God made. These organisms reproduce according to their “kinds.” Biologists can use this information to develop models about the world we live in.

So, what is a “kind”?

Well, creation scientists have researched this to determine which creatures can reproduce with each other. If they reproduce, they belong to the same kind.

Now, there are other ways of determining kinds, but that’s the top criterion. Their research has put “kind” mostly at the level of “family” in our modern classification system. So, kind is family!
