Amber is tree resin from extinct trees. Now, pollen grains, insects, and even animals could get stuck and become fossils.
In 2016, scientists found fossil geckos and chameleons in tree resin. The geckos had toe pads just like modern geckos. You know, it forced researchers to believe the complex system geckos use to walk upside down hasn’t changed in one hundred million years.
The chameleon fossil had the long, projectile tongue chameleons have today. In one hundred million years, the tongue hadn’t changed!
We don’t find evidence of evolution because …well … life didn’t evolve and its not millions of years old.
