Today is Labor Day here in America. A day off work can be nice, especially when work is difficult, stressful, or exhausting. But work isn’t a bad thing!

God created work from the very beginning. Even in God’s “very good” creation, there was work to do. But it wasn’t difficult. When Adam sinned, our world was broken, and work was specifically cursed. So now it’s difficult.

But even so, we’re encouraged to work hard, as to the Lord. We’re also encouraged to find rest in Christ. Many people try to work for their salvation, but that’s only available as a free gift!

This Labor Day, stop your work and rest in Christ, for what he’s freely done for you.
