Choosing Our Words

This week we’re looking at being pro-life beyond just standing against abortion. And one way is through our choice of words.

Have you said any of these things?

“She’s an expectant mum.” Now, a pregnant woman isn’t in the process of becoming a mum; she is a mum because life begins at the moment of fertilization.

And this one: “We don’t care if the baby’s a boy or girl, as long as it’s healthy!” Of course, we all want healthy babies. But is a baby with a disability any less welcome than a healthy baby? Not if we’re truly pro-life!

Now, this isn’t about being “politically correct.” But our words do have power. They can influence beliefs. We should use words that are pro-life.
