When we think of the gospel, we rightly think of Jesus and his life, death, and resurrection on earth. But the gospel begins in Genesis. Think about it: why do we need a Savior?
Well, we need a Savior because we’re sinners. And that truth goes back to Genesis. There we learn that Adam and Eve rebelled against God. The penalty for sin is death. We sin and deserve death because of our original sin in Adam … and our continued sin.
But Jesus came and died on the cross, taking the death we deserved for us. Then he rose from the dead, defeating death. Now all those who place their faith and trust in him are given eternal life in Heaven.
