A Whole New World

The world before Noah’s flood was nothing like our planet today. Now For one thing, it didn’t have extremely high mountains.

Psalm one hundred and four tells us waters covered the whole earth … and then God rebuked them. The waters retreated, the mountains rose, and the valleys sank. This is a poetic description of the flood and the processes going on during this year-long event.

The mountains we have today are made of rock layers that are filled with fossils, mostly of marine creatures. You know this shows these rock layers were laid down during the flood.

So, next time you see mountains, remember they’re a reminder of God’s judgment—and his mercy to save us from the coming judgment.
