The New Testament is filled with warnings to be watchful … and to avoid false teachers. That was true back then and it’s still true today.

Many today who claim to be Christians are nothing but false teachers, leading God’s people astray. So how can we watch for them?

The Apostle Paul tells us to “test the spirits to see if they are from God, for many false teachers have gone into the world.” When we hear a teaching, we can’t just accept it blindly. We need to test it. But by what standard? Well, how do we know anything authoritative about God? By his Word!

It’s the revelation of God to us. We must compare everything a teacher tells us against God’s Word.
