Transcript

Today the continents move apart at the speed your fingernails grow. This is known as “continental drift.” But when we start our thinking with God’s Word, we know that in the past, the continental plates moved much faster.

Now, the Bible doesn’t specifically tell us the plates moved faster in the past. But the Bible gives a historical framework we can use to develop scientific models. We can then test these models—and discard them as better ones come along.

One model that does a great job explaining what we see is “catastrophic plate tectonics.” This is the idea of “continental sprint.” During the Flood, the plates moved quickly to roughly their present positions.
