Why Do We Get Sick?

There’s nothing fun about having a cold or the flu. And then there’s the more serious ailments—like pneumonia or bronchitis, and the list goes on. So, why is our world full of disease?

Well, Genesis tells us that God’s original creation was “very good.” But when sin came into the world, so did death and suffering and now creation groans.

You see, the bacteria and viruses that make us sick today were originally created very good. Most bacteria—and even viruses—still perform their original, “very good” functions. But some have “gone rogue.” They cause sickness and disease.

That’s why we need the new heavens and earth!
