Our tongues can sense five basic tastes: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and savory. Well, a study from last year suggests we can sense a sixth “taste”—tasteless water!

Research on mice found that their sour taste receptors also seem to be able to “taste” water. They help a mouse figure out what is water and what isn’t. They also help tell the brain when the mouse’s thirst is quenched. This study hasn’t been replicated in humans yet, but it seems likely that it could be.

The more we learn about God’s creation, the more amazing we realize it is! Next time you grab a cold glass of water, stop and thank our Creator for his very good gifts.
