Why Does Labor Hurt?

According to evolutionists, labor is painful for women because of evolution. They claim our species evolved bigger brains. Our big heads they say, have a harder time getting through the birth canal than, say, an ape’s.

Well, God’s Word gives us the real answer to why childbirth is so painful. When Adam and Eve sinned, God cursed his “very good” creation. As part of the curse, a woman would have pain in bearing children.

Now, it wasn’t originally supposed to be this way! The pain of childbirth reminds us of the Curse and our sin. But the new life that comes as a result of the birthing process should remind us of the new life we can have through faith in Christ.
