Yes, rivers now have human rights in some countries!

In India, two rivers were given the same legal status as humans. In New Zealand, a 150-year debate ended when a river there was named a legal person.

This silliness highlights the absurdity that results from a world in rebellion against the Creator God. This kind of thinking about rivers and nature ignores the uniqueness of humans. We’re special, made in the image of God, with unique rights and responsibilities.

Nature is important, and we should protect it as God’s stewards of creation. But we’re distinct from it.

No, a river will never be a person!
