Many Christians today claim Adam wasn’t a historical person. Instead, they say he was a mythological figure or tribal leader. But a historical Adam, as described in Genesis, is foundational to the gospel.

The Apostle Paul makes it clear that, because there was a first Adam who literally sinned and brought physical death into creation, we need the Last Adam, Jesus Christ. Think about it. If Adam wasn’t a historical person, then death isn’t the punishment for sin. You see, in an old earth evolutionary view, death has always been a part of creation. And if death isn’t the consequence for sin, why did Jesus have to come and die a physical death?

Yes, Adam was real.
