Can We Have Morality Without Religion?

Every year across Europe more churches close their doors. And fewer people say they are Christians. A recent study wanted to see if this all means that morality was declining within the church. And their answer was “no, not really.”

But how did the researchers define morality? Well, abortion and homosexual behavior were merely listed as traditionally offensive actions . . . while things like lying and stealing were labeled as “immoral.”

They found many Europeans accept abortion and homosexual behavior but most still think lying and stealing are wrong. So, really, morality has declined as more people have rejected God’s Word as the basis for right and wrong. Let us use God’s definition of morality!
