When God looked at all He had made, He called it “very good.” Now, many Christians believe the earth is millions of years old. And if this is true, the fossil record is also millions of years old. And it contains the record of millions of years of death, suffering, cancer, and animals eating each other. Would God look at a creation full of death and call it “very good”? No!

Death was the penalty for sin. It is called “the last enemy,” and Jesus came to die on the Cross to take this penalty for us. A good God certainly wouldn’t call the punishment for sin “very good.” And if death isn’t the penalty for sin, why did Jesus even need to come?

Death before sin undermines God’s character!
