When many Christians hear “natural selection,” they think “evolution.” But natural selection is an observable process that results in small changes within an animal kind. This is much different from the big changes between kinds that evolution requires.

A great example is the Galápagos Islands, where species of finches have different-sized beaks. Now this allows them to eat varieties of food, decreasing competition for resources.

This is the most famous example cited for evolution, but the finches remain finches—there were just small changes in their beak and body sizes.

Observational science shows that finches always stay finches!
