It’s International Day of Sign Languages

Today is International Day of Sign Languages, part of International Week of the Deaf. Over 70 million Deaf people live around the world, with 80% living in developing countries. Deaf communities are incredibly unreached when it comes to the gospel—they make up one of the most unreached people groups in the world. Sadly, access to the gospel is limited for the hearing population, let alone for the Deaf population. There is certainly a need for missionaries to reach these people with the message of Christ.

We’re doing what we can to welcome and serve Deaf Americans at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.

And we’re doing what we can to welcome and serve Deaf Americans (and others from other countries) at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. Each year, we host our Deaf Days event, two unforgettable days designed to welcome and serve the Deaf community with full American Sign Language (ASL) access.

This March 5–6, 2027, every daily program, presentation, and guest service location across both attractions will be ASL interpreted. And yes, there will even be ASL-interpreted zip line tours! There will also be a Deaf-led worship service on Saturday morning. Accommodation is also offered (upon request during registration) for Deaf-Blind guests during keynote presentations. If you are Deaf, or know someone who is, make plans to join us (registration is coming soon).

And that’s not all!

We also offer ASL interpretation during many of our major events. For example, this winter, Logos Theatre is bringing the live stage drama Prince Caspian, based on the fourth book in The Chronicles of Narnia series by C. S. Lewis, to the Ark Encounter, and on Saturday, January 9, 2027, the show will be ASL interpreted.

We also offer ASL interpretation upon request for our major conferences and offer tactile experiences for those who have low vision, are blind, or are on the autism spectrum (also upon request). And Answers TV, our streaming platform, has hundreds of captioned options to help everyone build a more biblical worldview.

We’re thankful for our staff who are dedicated to ensuring we reach as many people as we possibly can with the gospel, including through using their unique skills in areas such as ASL to do that.
