Dr. Voddie Baucham: Another of the Lord’s Powerful Bible Teachers Has Gone to Be with Him

I was greatly saddened to hear the news late yesterday that pastor and theologian Dr. Voddie Baucham had passed away after an emergency medical incident. Voddie was such a powerful voice for truth, saying the hard things that needed to be said.

He was a pioneer in challenging men to stand for Christ in leading their families. He encouraged men ferociously to be the head of their homes—and make sure they were fully responsible for not dropping the ball on being the main influence in the lives of their children and leading their wives biblically. And he encouraged them to be the first to apologize to their children/wife for past mistakes.

He was a pioneer in challenging men to stand for Christ in leading their families.

No other voice had the impact his did to encourage the current generation to home educate their children—that they would know Christ and make him known. Voddie called men to lead in family worship daily in their homes. He was a pioneer in bringing young people back into the churches to sit together as a family and witness their dads worshipping the Lord.

He stood boldly and loudly on a biblical Genesis, understanding that undermining the first book of the Bible undermined the rest of the Bible and biblical authority. He loved the ministry of AiG and was always willing to speak here (last year we hosted An Evening with Voddie Baucham, which had over 2,000 registrants, and he was scheduled to speak this coming spring at our 2026 Answers for Women conference).

Voddie encouraged a generation to love children and families and to be fruitful and multiply. He did all these things while standing against the status quo, and he was easily one of the most beloved voices of our generation.

We loved him dearly.

I saw Voddie not long ago when he sat with Ray Comfort, E.Z. Zwayne, Lalo Gunther (an AiG staff member), and me at John MacArthur’s memorial.
