Construction Update: Enjoy Photos of Oil Lamps for New Welcome Center at the Ark Encounter

Yes, exciting things are happening at our Answers in Genesis design studio, where most of the exhibits for the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum are designed and built. Our talented team continues to work on theming for the coming Welcome Center (opening later this year, with the highly detailed scale model of first-century Jerusalem coming in 2027).

Last week, our digital fabrication team, along with the incredible exhibit artists and some of our dedicated Embark interns, were busy 3D printing parts for stunning oil lamp fixtures. They have also been painting, texturing, and aging them by hand. These lamps will help light up the main entryway of the Welcome Center at the Ark Encounter. Our team has perfected a way of making these fixtures appear to have the flickering flames of oil lamps while actually using LED lighting.

Our teams are also continuing to work on the Welcome Center’s exterior, adding impressive details like the designs at the top of the ticketing booth. Their next major task will be pouring and stamping the custom flooring for the entire interior of the building.
