Yesterday, July 7, 2025, marked the nine-year anniversary of the opening of the Ark Encounter in Northern Kentucky. Yes, it’s been almost a decade since we welcomed our very first guests. And wow—what the Lord has done!
One of the exhibits at the Ark is our Twelve Stones exhibit, a tower of stones that represents what we read in Joshua:
Take twelve stones from here out of the midst of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests’ feet stood firmly, and bring them over with you and lay them down in the place where you lodge tonight.. . . And Joshua said to them, “. . . that this may be a sign among you. When your children ask in time to come, ‘What do those stones mean to you?’ then you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever.” (Joshua 4:3, 5–7)
We don’t want our children, grandchildren, or the world to forget what the Lord has done.
This exhibit teaches that we built the Ark itself as a “twelve stones” memorial—we don’t want our children, grandchildren, or the world to forget what the Lord has done. Yes, just as he sent the floodwaters to cover the earth in judgment over man’s sin but provided a means of salvation through the ark, so Jesus is coming again in judgment and has provided a means of salvation to all who believe: his death on the cross in our place and his resurrection from the dead.
The Ark Encounter has faithfully proclaimed this message of the truth of God’s Word, beginning in Genesis, and the gospel to the world for nine years now. Millions have visited, and tens of thousands (according to our research) have responded to that gospel message by committing their lives to Christ. Praise the Lord!
We look forward to what the Lord will do in the future as the Ark Encounter continues to expand with even more God-honoring, faith-building exhibits.
Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
