Behind the Scenes: What Does It Take to Maintain the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter?

Our facilities maintenance team for the Answers in Genesis offices, the Ark Encounter, and the Creation Museum is familiar with the implications of Romans 8:22: “For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.”

We live in a fallen world, and things tend to wear out, run down, and fall apart! God still holds all things together by the power of his hand, but because of the curse, this no longer includes preventing death, disease, and decay. And it shows!

Whether in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or one of many other areas, we have talented and dedicated staff who continually repair, maintain, and update our facilities.

It’s one thing to build two attractions and purchase an office complex, but it’s another thing to take care of them. And they do need a lot of looking after. Whether in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or one of many other areas, we have talented and dedicated staff who continually repair, maintain, and update our facilities.

Most people can’t imagine the daily cost of just maintaining facilities such as the Ark and Creation Museum. It’s a significant part of the budget to run these attractions each day. And there are major projects we have to plan ahead for—such as when the air conditioning units reach the end of their lives and need replacing.

It’s a never-ending battle as we fight the effects of the curse every day. We praise the Lord for our faithful, hardworking maintenance team, who really are on call 24 hours a day.

Our staff are truly our greatest assets, and we’re so thankful for them. And if you’d like to join the AiG team, I encourage you to check out our open positions. We’re currently hiring many seasonal team members (as well as paid interns) for our busy summer season at the attractions, and we’d love to have you join the team. You can learn more and see all of our open positions on our website.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for praying,
Ken
